About Us

Introduction

Map Action Development Foundation(MADFO) was founded in July 2001 by a group of young professionals. Itis an Independent, Non-partisan and a non- profit organization that works with the main objective of mitigating suffering among Somali communities caused by natural and man- made disasters, empowering women and promoting peace and co-existence.

 

The organization has operational presence in Bay, Bakooland Lower Shabelle Regions with full cooperation of the local authorities, elders, religious leaders and women and youth groups and the community cross-section.  The organization’s operation are implemented as per the needs identified to reach all targeted communities without any discrimination.

1) Location and Personnel

MADFOis operating in Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakool regions, South  central Somalia with its headquarters in Baidoa Town, Bay Region, Somalia. The organization has 12 Permanent staff and 6 casuals and volunteers and the number varies from time to time depending on projects implemented.

The organization has a team of experienced and professionally qualified personnel to undertake and successfully implement all the activities within its thematic areas.  A well-established recruitment structure as per the Human Resource Policy is in place to ensure that the best personnel are hired for quality service delivery.

2) Management System

The Board of directors is the highest governing body of the organization, which formulates the policies and procedures and oversees the overall activities based on the policies, procedures and mandate of the organization. It consists of  six members and they meet twice a year to discuss issues related to performance of organization and programs activities and sets strategic direction in consultation with the management team.

3) Strategy

MADFO embraces all stakeholder participation while emphasizing on community participation in all the organization’s activities is always put ahead the implementation of all programmers. This has greatly enhanced the organization service delivery in terms of effectively delivery of our programs. The approaches include:

 

  • Recognition of the existing policies and regulations of governments and the local requirements.
  • Conflict sensitive approaches such as do no harm.
  • Right based approaches.
  • Gender sensitive approaches.
  • Participatory integrated community development.
  • Building strong relationships, network and association with other partners and organizations including; Somali Diaspora and other well-wishers sharing concern on the prevailing humanitarian crisis in Somalia and other parts of the horn of Africa.
  • Strong emphasis on assessment and response to the identified needs. thus developing initiatives that have a sustainable impacts more than just a project.
